Obituary for Neil Elliott

D.N. “Neil” Elliott, 86, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Center in Dodge City, Kansas. He was born July 22, 1930 in Lakin, Kansas the son of Thomas Melvin & Doris Dixie (Hetherington) Elliott.
Neil spent his early childhood in southern Kearny County, Kansas. In his early teens, he moved with his family to Galena, Kansas. In his late teens, Neil moved again with his family to Deerfield, Kansas where he spent most of his life before moving to Garden City in 1984. Neil worked as a plant operator for Colorado Interstate Gas Company from 1949 to 1992. He also did farm work from the late 1950’s to 1972 and worked as a grain hauler from the 1960’s to the early 1980’s. Neil was a member of the English Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses where he also served for many years as a minister. Neil enjoyed farming, gardening, playing music, and tinkering.
On November 16, 1961, he married Twyla Brach in Wichita, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include three sons Marlon Elliott of Garden City, Kansas, Vance Elliott of Garden City, Kansas, and Lonnie Elliott of Dilley, Texas; five grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. Neil is preceded in death by his parents; a brother Richard D. Elliott; and a half-sister Dixie Cherry.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Garden City with services being conducted by the English Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. There will be no calling hours. The family request memorials given to the World Wide Work of Jehovah’s Witnesses in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
