Dighton- Merlyn Dawn Coberly, 88, died on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Lane County Hospital in Dighton. She was born on November 18, 1928 at Dighton the daughter of Daniel Newton & Nora Leatha (Doll) Thomas. She married Albert Taney Coberly on November 28, 1948 at Dighton.

Merlyn graduated from Dighton High School in 1946. She was a homemaker and had worked at Lane County Hospital in the cleaning department for a few years. She enjoyed growing African violets, embroidery, crocheting, her angel collection and attending her families sporting events. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her Husband- Albert Coberly, Daughter- Nora & Tom Kerschen of Dighton, Son- Thomas & Edie Coberly of Wamego, Brother- Larry Thomas of Dighton, Sister- Mildred Bentley of Hays, 7 Grandchildren & 16 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents, 3 Brothers- Dean Thomas, Ward Thomas & Marion Thomas, 2 Sisters- Nila Dee Thomas & Margaret Ann Smith & 2 Grandchildren- Gaylene Kerschen & Jason Kerschen.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Friday at the United Methodist Church in Dighton with Rev Berniece Ludlum officiating. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to United Methodist Church in care of Boomhower Funeral Home. Calling Hours are from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton.
