Maria De Jesus Hernandez, 77 died Friday May 18, 2018 at St. Francis Via Christi in Wichita, Kansas. She was born October 14, 1940 in Tlahualilo, Durango, Mexico to Trinidad Hernandez and Maria Rodriguez de Hernandez.

Maria had lived in Garden City since the 1980’s. She had been a custodian from the First Christian Church after having worked there for 10 years. He hobbies included watching Telenovelas, walking, shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family. She had been a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Pentecostal Church Jesus Christ is the Lord.

Survivors include her children -Cindy Hernandez of Garden City, Hector Hernandez of Pueblo, Colorado & Joe Montoya of Arlington, Texas; Siblings- Juan Alvarado of Cd Juarez, Mexico, Antonia Favela of Arlington, TX & Luz Maria Hernandez of El Paso, TX; 15 Grandchildren & 13 Great- Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son Neftali Hernandez & sister Esperanza Torres.

Vigil Service will be 7:00 pm Tuesday May 22, 2018, Visitation will be 1:00 – 7:00 pm Tuesday May 22, 2018 & Funeral will be 10:00 am Wednesday May 23, 2018 all at Pentecostal Church Jesus Christ Is The Lord, 3050 N. 8th Street, Garden City, KS with Pastor Gerardo Nunez officiating. The family suggests memorials to the Maria Hernandez Memorial Fund. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Condolences may be posted at garnandfuneralhomes.com
