Marriage: to Eileen Herrin on February 25, 1951 at Huntsville, Arkansas

Blackie attended school in Erie. He started his work career by driving a truck for Banfield Meat Packing Co. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In 1951 He moved to Lakin and did farm work and smaller jobs like building cattle oilers and chemical process work. He then started working as a Police Officer in Lakin and became the Chief of Police for 25 years. After retiring from police work he did disk rolling, harvest work, hay hauling. He was a Gas & Oil Contract Pumper and truck driver until he was 85 years old. He enjoyed fishing & riding motorcycles on trips with his wife. He was preceded in death by his parents, Son- Kenneth Dean Cox, 2 Brothers- Jim Cox & Don Cox & 3 Sisters-Margaret Driscoll, Mary Jeanette Kent & Evelyn Mintz.
